Happy Easter!

Of all the symbols associated with Easter, the egg, the symbol of fertility and new life, is the most identifiable. The customs and traditions of using eggs have been associated with Easter for centuries.

Celebrating Easter and its symbol of fertility and new life, I read the book "Amazing Eggs."  For some moments, our preschoolers were tuned in to the fascinating world of eggs and hatching!  Birds hatch from eggs, and so do reptiles, amphibians, fish and insects.  Even dinosaurs came from eggs!

Our preschoolers were listening attentively and looking at the pictures enthusiastically as I read "  Before you were born, you grew inside your mother.  Your mother's body kept you safe and gave you everything you needed to grow.  But most animals don't grow inside of their mothers.  Instead, they hatch from eggs.  The egg has everything the baby needs to grow.  The shell helps keep the baby safe."

In addition to the book, some pictures of eggs and hatching were shown.

Each one touched the hard shell of a chicken egg.

Our preschoolers were quite fascinated to see the inside of an egg.    "The mother hen did not sit on this egg, that is why it did not become a chick." one child pointed out.

Our preschoolers painted their Easter eggs with bright colors to represent the sunlight of spring.

Of course, the celebration of Easter would not be complete without Easter Egg Hunting.

Our preschoolers had some fun time looking for some Easter eggs hidden on the grass at our front yard.

Happy Easter!   I love egg!
